This lens is the direct descendant of the original Tessar design, and carries both the triumphs and burdens of its lineage name with grace.
It is well regarded and has the performance to match its namesake. Zeiss lenses have been well known for their sharpness and high contrast reproduction. This lens does not disappoint in that regard. The focus ring might feel a bit small for some users, but this is a problem endemic to many pancake lenses, and those with larger fingers.
